Terms of service

These terms apply when you use thedentalsignal.com, our newsletter, and our calculators and checklists (together, "the service"). By using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. Information, not advice

Everything we publish—articles, benchmark reports, data, calculators, and checklists—is general information about the business of dentistry. It is not investment, legal, tax, accounting, or clinical advice, and it is not tailored to your practice.

We are not registered investment advisers, attorneys, or accountants. Before acting on anything you read here—buying or selling a practice, signing a contract, changing compensation, or making a compliance decision—talk to a qualified professional who knows your situation.

2. Benchmark data and calculators

We work to make our figures accurate and cite their sources, but all benchmark data has limits:

• Benchmarks describe typical ranges. Individual practices vary widely by region, specialty, size, payer mix, and other factors.
• Source data can have small samples, self-reporting bias, and publication lag. Figures reflect conditions when they were published.
• Calculator results are estimates based on the numbers you enter and the assumptions stated on each tool. They are not appraisals, offers, or professional opinions.

We correct and update content when we find errors or better data, and we may do so without notice. Our methodology explains how figures are compiled.

3. Accounts and plans

You need an account, tied to your email address, to receive the newsletter or read members-only content. We offer:

• Free: the weekly newsletter, the public archive, members-only articles, and all calculators and checklists.
• Pro: everything in Free, plus the monthly Pro report and paid deep dives, billed monthly or yearly at the prices shown on our pricing page.
• Team access: for multi-location groups and advisers, by arrangement. Email info@thedentalsignal.com.

A Pro subscription is for one person. Keep access to your email account secure, since sign-in links are sent there.

4. Trials, billing, and cancellation

• Free trial. Pro starts with a 14-day free trial. You enter payment details at signup; if you don't cancel before the trial ends, your first charge is made then.
• Renewal. Paid plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe.
• Cancellation. You can cancel at any time in your account. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep paid access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
• Plan changes. If you switch between monthly and yearly billing, Stripe prorates the difference.
• Price changes. If we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you before the new price applies to you.
• Refunds. Cancelling doesn't automatically refund the current period. If something went wrong with a charge, email us within 14 days and we'll look into it.

5. Acceptable use

When using the service, please don't:

• share your account, or forward or republish paid reports to people who haven't subscribed;
• scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy our content or data;
• submit calculator data you know to be false, or automate submissions, since it distorts the benchmarks other readers rely on;
• try to break, overload, or get around the access controls of the site;
• post comments that are unlawful, abusive, misleading, or promotional spam.

We may remove comments, and suspend or close accounts, that break these rules.

6. Intellectual property

Our articles, reports, data compilations, and tools belong to The Dental Signal. You're welcome to quote short excerpts with attribution and a link to the original. Republishing, redistributing, or selling our content requires our written permission.

You keep ownership of comments you post. By posting, you let us display them on the site.

7. Other websites and services

We link to sources and other websites we don't control, and we rely on outside services such as Stripe for payments. We aren't responsible for their content or practices. See our privacy policy for the services that process your data.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any strategy or benchmark we discuss will produce a particular result for your practice.

To the fullest extent the law allows, The Dental Signal and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service. You use the information at your own risk.

9. Changes to the service and these terms

We may change the service and update these terms. When we update them, we change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the service after an update, the updated terms apply.
